Smriti Mandhana named full-time India women’s captain as Harmanpreet steps down

Smriti Mandhana has been appointed full-time white-ball captain of the Indian women’s cricket team after Harmanpreet Kaur stepped down across all formats, ending a decade in charge.
Harmanpreet’s tenure included leading India to the 2025 ODI World Cup title and back-to-back Asian Games golds, making her one of the most successful captains in Indian cricket history.
Mandhana’s first assignment as full-time skipper will be the upcoming bilateral series in Zimbabwe, where she will look to build on the team’s recent dominance.
The opener is among the most experienced players in the squad and has been Harmanpreet’s deputy through the team’s golden run.
