Indian shares rebounded sharply on Monday after four straight losing sessions, with the Sensex gaining 482.92 points to 73,606.75 and the Nifty rising 153.20 points to 22,753.20. Pharma, metal and energy stocks led the recovery as crude eased from near six-month highs, though traders stayed cautious ahead of the US Fed decision.

Mid-cap and small-cap shares outperformed the benchmarks, rising about 1.2 per cent and 1.4 per cent, while pharma and healthcare led sectoral gains.

The rupee stayed under pressure at 95.22 to the dollar and Brent crude eased to about $110 a barrel, leaving traders watching the Fed meeting for the next cue.
