Legendary filmmaker Singeetham Srinivasa Rao dies at 95; Revanth condoles

Singeetham Srinivasa Rao, the genre-defying director behind Aditya 369, Bhairava Dweepam and Apoorva Sagodharargal, died in Chennai on Oct 3. Telangana CM Revanth Reddy called it an irreplaceable loss to Indian cinema.
Rao, 95, died at Kauvery Hospital in Chennai after a brief illness. He began as an assistant to K.V. Reddy on classics including Mayabazar before directing across Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Hindi and English.
He broke new ground with science fiction in Aditya 369 and fantasy in Bhairava Dweepam — both cult classics — alongside celebrated comedies like Michael Madana Kama Rajan and the silent black comedy Pushpaka Vimana.
Revanth Reddy said Rao enriched cinema with diverse narratives and innovative ideas; Andhra CM Chandrababu Naidu and former Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu also condoled the family.
