The Supreme Court has declined to extend the deadline for Maharashtra's special intensive revision of electoral rolls, while asking the Election Commission to respond to concerns over deletions amounting to 33 per cent. The order keeps the revision timetable intact as the political row over voter lists continues.

The court sought the Election Commission's response on the scale of deletions flagged by petitioners, keeping the revision process under judicial watch.

Maharashtra's revision has become a flashpoint in the wider national debate over voter lists, with opposition parties alleging large-scale deletions and the commission defending its process.
