President Donald Trump awarded the National Medal of Science to tech executives including Elon Musk, Google co-founder Sergey Brin, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and AMD CEO Lisa Su on October 8.

Trump called Musk ‘one of the greatest technology founders to ever live.’ The National Medal of Technology and Innovation went to Dell CEO Michael Dell and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella at the ‘Science: A New Golden Age’ summit.

The ceremony followed Trump's signing last week of a ‘morally binding’ AI-safety accord with six major AI firms.

The guest list — the who's who of Big Tech on one stage — underlined how completely the industry now sits at the centre of American science policy.
