Land acquisition for the 161.5-km northern section of the Hyderabad Regional Ring Road is complete and fresh tenders are expected, while the southern stretch awaits the Centre's nod.

Land acquisition for the 161.5-km northern section of the Hyderabad Regional Ring Road (RRR) is complete, Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy announced on October 9, clearing the way for fresh tenders. Two earlier tender rounds had been cancelled because acquisition was not finished.

The northern stretch links Sangareddy, Narsapur, Toopran, Gajwel, Jagdevpur, Bhongir and Choutuppal, and the government aims to complete tendering within about two months. Compensation to landowners has ranged from about Rs 16 lakh to over Rs 1.27 crore per acre depending on location.

The 201-km southern section, a proposed six-lane greenfield expressway from Choutuppal to Sangareddy via Future City, is still awaiting the Centre's decision on alignment. Telangana has asked for the southern stretch to be brought under Bharatmala Pariyojana so both halves can be built together.
