Trump announces Ukraine–Russia energy ceasefire; Zelenskyy awaits details

Donald Trump announced on Sunday that Ukraine and Russia had agreed to an energy ceasefire. But Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he was still awaiting details from Washington and noted that Russian forces continued striking energy targets, including a heating-and-power plant in Kharkiv.
The announcement landed amid a visible Berlin–Washington rift: Germany's foreign minister restated support for Zelenskyy after Trump called on Saturday for him to be replaced, and Berlin said it would maintain Russia sanctions despite Trump lifting US fuel sanctions.
The move also follows Trump's announcement of a Russian diesel deal to ease US fuel prices — a dramatic shift from years of efforts to isolate Moscow over its war in Ukraine.
